How to Plant Lily Seedlings
An introduction to how to plant lily seedlings and related planting steps for green plants and flowers, let's follow the editor to see!
Abstract: There are two methods of lily propagation, one is by using tubers, and the other is by using seeds. Propagation with tubers is relatively simple, as long as the tuber quality is good and properly cared for, it can bloom in the same year after planting. Seed propagation is more challenging than tuber propagation and may not bloom in the first year, only blooming in the following year. When propagating lilies with seeds, special attention should be paid to planting steps and care, otherwise, you will have to wait another year to see flowers.
Lily
March is the season for sowing, and many flower enthusiasts are starting to plant lilies again. Lily tubers are much more expensive than seeds, with a common mini lily tuber priced at around 20~50 yuan, while a genuine lily seed costs about 1~5 yuan. Therefore, many flower enthusiasts choose to plant lilies from seeds. Although lily seeds are cheaper, they do not grow as fast as tubers and are less likely to bloom in the same year if not properly cared for. Therefore, the steps must be correct when planting lily seeds. After the seeds have survived, care should also be given extra attention. How to plant lily seeds to ensure good growth, easy leaf formation, and easy blooming? Let me share my planting methods and some experiences.

Lily Sowing Time
It is best to sow lily seeds in March, and the first half of April is also possible, but the blooming period will be later. After April, it is not recommended to sow lily seeds as it may miss the peak growing season, resulting in no flowers in the same year. Some seed sellers claim that lilies can be sown and bloom all year round, which is a false statement, made only to sell seeds. After sowing lily seeds, it takes at least 3 months to possibly form flower buds. That is, if sown in March, June to July may see the formation of flower buds and blooming. And June to July is the season when lilies bloom, just in season. If sown late, after the leaves have sprouted, the best blooming time has passed, and it will not be possible to have a full pot of lilies.

About Lily Seeds
If you want to grow beautiful lilies from seeds, seed selection is very important. If you choose fake lily seeds (there are many fake lily seeds on the market), they will not bloom (fake lily seeds are usually vegetable lotus or large ornamental荷花 seeds, which do not produce standing leaves or flowers in small containers, only a few floating leaves). Only by buying genuine lily seeds is there a possibility of growing them to bloom. Therefore, when choosing lily seeds, buy from reliable sellers. Or ask friends and family who grow lilies for a few seeds, which ensures a more reliable variety.

Suggestion
If there is no reliable source of lily seeds nearby, you can purchase them from a store specializing in lilies. The price of lily seeds is generally 1~5 yuan per seed (except for some rare varieties), and never buy the kind that costs 9.9 yuan for many seeds, as 99% of them are fake. To determine if the lily seeds you bought are genuine, look at the packaging; genuine lily seeds have a name on each one. If many seeds are mixed together without a name, they are likely fake.

About Planting Containers
Different varieties of lilies require different sizes of planting containers. Choosing the wrong container may result in poor growth and difficulty in blooming. Based on the size of the lily plant, they can be divided into mini lilies, small lilies, medium lilies, and large lilies. Containers with an inner diameter of 15~20CM and a depth of 8~15CM are suitable for planting mini lilies. Containers with an inner diameter of 25~35CM and a depth of at least 20CM are suitable for small lilies. Containers with an inner diameter of 35~45CM and a depth of at least 30CM are suitable for medium lilies. Containers with an inner diameter of 50CM or more and a depth of at least 40CM are suitable for large lilies. Therefore, you should choose the appropriate container for the type of lily seeds you purchase. Do not use very small containers for all types.

Suggestion
Lily root growth does not like light, so when choosing a planting container, use one that is not transparent. That is, you cannot use glass or transparent plastic containers to plant lilies, as it is not conducive to root growth and even less likely to bloom smoothly. If you use a transparent container to plant lilies, you can wrap the outside of the container with a light-blocking cloth to prevent light from entering. Some flower enthusiasts use glass containers to plant lilies because they think it looks clean and beautiful, but such lilies can only grow floating leaves, not standing leaves or flowers.
