Methods and Precautions for Growing Cymbidium
Today's sharing: methods and precautions for growing Cymbidium, along with some small experiences in plant cultivation and maintenance knowledge about Cymbidium, are introduced as follows:
To grow Cymbidium, it is first necessary to understand its growth habits, such as its preference for warm and humid environments, loose and fertile soil, and relatively shaded positions, etc. Especially when seasons change, it requires even better daily care. Let's introduce it from five aspects: soil, light, temperature, water, and fertilization.
1. Soil
For Cymbidium to grow normally, soil with good breathability, looseness, fertility, and certain drainage is essential. Garden soil, wood ash soil, and river sand soil can usually be mixed and matched. If conditions permit, appropriate fertilizers can be added to the soil to supplement the nutrients needed for Cymbidium growth.
2. Light
Cymbidium is suitable for growing in relatively shaded positions. In spring and autumn, it can be placed in a shaded outdoor area. In summer, with strong sunlight, it should be placed in a relatively cooler position. In winter, with low temperatures and weak sunlight, it can be placed in an area with sufficient light for growth.
3. Temperature
The most suitable temperature for Cymbidium growth is around 20°C. Therefore, during seasonal transitions, it is necessary to control the growth environment of Cymbidium to maintain this temperature range. In extremely hot summers, it should be placed in an environment where the temperature does not exceed 30°C. In winters with lower temperatures, proper insulation measures should be taken to prevent Cymbidium from being in an environment below 10°C.
4. Water
Cymbidium requires plenty of water for growth, so keeping the soil moist is very necessary. Once Cymbidium shows signs of drying out, immediate watering is needed, thorough watering in one go. Additionally, Cymbidium goes through a dormant period during its growth, temporarily stopping growth, at which time it is important to reduce the amount of watering.
5. Fertilization
The frequency of fertilizing Cymbidium should not be too high, once every two weeks is sufficient. Moreover, the fertilizer needs to be diluted before application, mixed with a certain proportion of water, to better facilitate plant absorption.
The above sharing of methods and precautions for growing Cymbidium, along with detailed maintenance knowledge, hoping everyone will enjoy it!
