How to Plant Lily
Main Content Introduction: Discussing the topic of planting lilies and the key points of lily cultivation techniques, followed by sharing detailed information.
No sprout lilies, planting and germination "tricks", sprout small buds easily, and bloom full of flowers.
Lily plants are planted by Xiaoqi every year because they have a strong fragrance and are very beautiful when in bloom. After flowering each year, most of the bulbs planted by Xiaoqi will be buried in the ground. By winter, the top leaves of the bulbs will wither. Xiaoqi will dig up the bulbs and put them in a sealed bag with a small opening, then store them away until spring. So, how should we plant lilies that have no sprouts?
The planting method is actually very simple because the lily bulbs we usually buy have already been germinated. They germinate by using moist soil and then completely covering the bulbs with it, creating a fully moist environment. The roots will gradually grow into the soil, and the sprouts will gradually emerge. We just need to follow this method. First, soak the unsprouted bulbs in a fungicide, trim off the dry roots, and soak for about half an hour. Then find a flower pot and put nearly half of the soil in the bottom, then evenly place the lily bulbs inside and fill in some soil.
Filling the soil to half the position of the lily bulb is enough, leaving most of the top exposed. Thoroughly water it, don't forget to add some root-promoting solution, then find a thick piece of cardboard to cover the top of the pot, creating a dark environment. If not covering, it can be placed in a place with insufficient lighting or covered with a layer of black cloth for better ventilation. During this period, you can frequently check and if the potting soil is dry, water thoroughly. After the second thorough watering, we can directly cover the bulbs with soil. Generally, the covering position should completely cover the bulbs. Covering about the height of one bulb is fine. After doing this, we can place it in a well-ventilated area with sufficient light for care.
If the lily bulbs are planted without sprouts, generally after planting for about a month, the sprouts will gradually emerge, and we will find that the roots will gradually grow out from the bottom holes of the pot. The purpose of this is to let the roots gradually take root in the moist soil and prevent rotting. When the roots start to grow, usually after the first watering, we cover with soil again, and the roots will grow longer and longer, and the sprouts will gradually emerge, breaking through the soil and seeing light. After the sprouts see light and are bathed in strong light, they will gradually grow more leaves and will not become leggy, and then bloom directly. This is the method of planting lilies.
Remember, during the cultivation of lilies, if there is not enough light, they will become leggy. We should use a dwarfing agent every two weeks and supplement with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Start using phosphorus and potassium fertilizers after sprouting, about 2-3 times a month until the flowers bloom. In this way, when we grow a pot of lilies, they will not lack nutrients, and the roots will be strong, absorbing enough nutrients, the bulbs will not shrink, and the bulbs will grow larger after flowering. When the leaves wither, we can dig them up and store them for flowering again the next year.
