Hinton Peony Ariocarpus fissuratus var. hintonii - Cactaceae Rock牡丹 Genus, native to United States - Texas; Mexico - Chihuahua, Coahuila, Zaragoza, Durango. The leaves grow upward in a clustering manner, with a thin hook about 1 mm wide on the leaves. When young, the leaves are relatively flat, and as they grow older, many wart-like protuberances appear on the leaves.

Naming History: Ariocarpus fissuratus var. hintonii W. Stuppy & N. P. Taylor 1989, Ariocarpus bravoanus subsp. hintonii (Stuppy & N.P. Taylor) E.F. Anderson & Fitz Maurice 1997

Note: The original Ariocarpus bravoanus subsp. hintonii has become a subspecies of Ariocarpus fissuratus, and the current name is Hinton Peony Ariocarpus fissuratus subsp. hintonii.
