Skyward Pot is a shrub, growing 1 to 2.5 meters tall. The stems are tetragonal and covered with coarse hair. The leaves are opposite, elliptical-lanceolate, with coarse hair on both sides; the paniculate inflorescence is terminal, or contracted into a corymbose form; the bracteoles are ovate; the petals are light purple-blue or white, broadly ovate; the seeds are tiny and slightly kidney-shaped. The flowering period is August to September, and the fruiting period is October to November. Its roots are used in medicine, having the effects of replenishing deficiencies, benefiting the kidneys, and stopping bleeding.
