Paeonia Disease Prevention and Control
This article provides a detailed explanation of the knowledge about Paeonia in the field of floral clinics, focusing on the common diseases and their prevention. Next, our station editor will introduce to you.
Paeonia brown spot disease, also known as Paeonia red spot disease, is one of the most common and important diseases in the cultivation of Paeonia. It is caused by the fungus Cladosporium paeoniae, and the pathogen mainly overwinters in the form of mycelium in diseased leaves, branches, and fallen plant debris.
In the following spring, conidia are produced and spread to newly sprouted leaves through air currents, rain, or wind. Generally, the lower leaves of the plant are the first to become infected, gradually spreading to the entire plant. Initially, infected leaves show slightly rounded green pinhead-sized spots, and in severe cases, the entire leaf becomes charred and dry, turning black-brown in autumn and becoming brittle and easy to break.
Later, a blackish-green moldy substance appears on the back of the lesions. The disease also infects young stems, appearing as purplish-brown, oblong, slightly protruding spots on the stems. The lesions expand slowly and can also merge into a continuous area in severe cases.
Prevention methods:
1. Thoroughly remove and burn diseased plants and leaves in autumn and winter.
2. Strengthen cultivation management, pay attention to planting density to increase ventilation and light transmission; apply more organic fertilizers to improve the water and fertilizer retention capacity of the soil, enhance the plant's disease resistance, and promote healthy growth.
3. Spray a 140-fold equal parts Bordeaux mixture every half month from flowering to the end of the rainy season, which can basically prevent the occurrence of diseases.
4. In the early stage of the disease, spray 1200 times methylthiophanate-methyl wettable powder or 50% carbendazim wettable powder 1000 times, once every 7 to 10 days, for 4 to 5 consecutive times.
The above is a specific introduction to the common disease prevention and control of Paeonia, hoping to bring some floral knowledge to flower enthusiasts.
