Jasmine Pruning Methods
Are you curious about jasmine-related knowledge and common sense of flower cultivation, such as the pruning methods for jasmine? Here is a detailed introduction:
Everyone knows the importance of pruning jasmine, and has some understanding of the pruning methods. However, more detailed post-flowering pruning in autumn might be unclear to some flower enthusiasts. Let's see how other enthusiasts prune their plants.
In the last week of August, the third batch of flowers on the jasmines at home have mostly faded, so I have been pruning the jasmines successively after flowering. I am now sharing the comparison photos after pruning with fellow enthusiasts.
Jasmine pruning is divided into two types throughout the year: "heavy pruning" in spring and "post-flowering pruning" in summer, with slightly different levels of pruning. I prefer a stocky type, so I prune a bit more heavily.
Finally, let me share some basic care tips for jasmine entering September:
From the end of August, gradually reduce fertilization for jasmine. As the temperature is still relatively high during this period, watering should still be done when the soil is dry to slightly moist. I generally water every two days. From the beginning of September to the beginning of October, the fourth batch of flowers forms. At this time, fertilization should be stopped, and the amount of watering should also be gradually reduced. As the weather gradually cools down, it will affect the differentiation of flower buds, thus reducing the number of flowers and affecting their fragrance. By mid-October, flowering ends, and after mid-October, jasmine generally no longer produces flower buds. Subsequent watering should also be controlled, without excessive amounts of water. It is necessary to keep the soil slightly dry and just moisten the soil when it is dry.
