In spring, flowers are susceptible to more diseases and pests, and the following are particularly harmful from April to May.
Aphids. Flowers such as hibiscus, peach, flowering hibiscus, Chinese rose, and honeysuckle are easily affected by aphids. With the increase of temperature, aphids are also increasing, and it is necessary to control them.
Control methods:
1. Spray with 40% omethoate or 50% phosmet diluted 1200 to 1500 times with water.
2. For a small number of potted flowers, you can also spray a neutral detergent solution diluted 70 to 100 times.
Spiders. Starting from early April, they begin to harm jasmine, flowering hibiscus, asparagus, Chinese roses, and dahlias.
Control methods:
For a small number of potted flowers, frequently rinse the front and back of the leaves with tap water, or spray or dip with boiled and cooled wheat paste solution diluted 100 to 150 times, and then rinse with clean water after one or two days for a noticeable effect.
Scale insects (flower lice). Scale insects on white magnolia, Chinese roses, boxwood, and sea thoroughworts mostly begin to hatch from mid-April to late May.
Control methods:
1. Before they hatch, manually brush off the insects gently.
2. Check frequently and spray 40% omethoate diluted 1000 to 1500 times during the larval hatching period.
