The editor will explain the knowledge of hydroponic flowers to you, how to care for hydroponic plants, let's follow the editor to take a look!
We will not discuss the various advantages and disadvantages of hydroponic plants first, this article mainly talks about how to care for hydroponic plants. The maintenance of hydroponic plants is much simpler compared to soil cultivation, but some details should not be overlooked.
Although theoretically all plants can be hydroponically cultivated, including cacti, being suitable for hydroponics does not mean it is fit for hydroponics. Sometimes hydroponics is just an alternative maintenance method, what we get is temporary pleasure, and what we lose is the later growth of the plant.
The previous paragraph tells plant lovers that hydroponics is not the best maintenance method, now let's understand how to care for hydroponic plants.
1. Hydroponic plants are not suitable for maintenance in environments with strong sunlight, as sunlight can cause green algae to grow in the water, leading to root rot. The best maintenance environment should be in diffused light or shaded areas (most hydroponic plants are ornamental leaf plants, so they can be maintained normally in a shaded environment).
2. The roots of hydroponic plants should not be completely immersed in water. Plant roots also need to breathe, so when maintaining hydroponic plants, it is necessary to expose the roots to the air by about 1-5 centimeters, with different plants being more exposed to the air to help the roots breathe. For example, in the picture below, we can see that some roots are in contact with the air (please ignore the fish in the bottle).
3. Regarding the issue of nutrient solutions, many nutrient solutions are fake. If you can't be sure that the nutrient solution you bought is genuine, don't use it. Persist in changing the water, and it can still provide nutrients.
4. Regarding water changing, first, we need to prepare clean water. If it's tap water, let it sit for two days before changing the water.
Hydroponic plants, actually, there are only these four main points: do not expose to direct sunlight, allow the roots to breathe, be cautious with nutrient solutions, and change the water regularly.
In the end, it's still the old saying, although hydroponic plants can survive, it is difficult for them to thrive and there is a process of acclimatization, especially for some picky flowers (we won't mention green vines and hanging orchids, they won't die no matter how you care for them). So, when dealing with hydroponic plants, you should be mentally prepared.
This article shares a comprehensive method of caring for hydroponic plants, hoping it can act as a starting point and solve your problems with green plants.
