Preparations for Rose Cuttings

Before starting rose cuttings, you need to prepare the following tools and materials: healthy, mature rose stems, pruning shears, rooting powder, rooting hormone, vermiculite or perlite, and clear plastic bags. These preparations are key to ensuring successful propagation.

Rose Cutting Process

1. Select a healthy rose stem: Choose a mature, disease-free stem, typically 10-15 cm in length.

2. Cut the stem: Use pruning shears to cut the stem at a slant. Remove excess leaves, leaving 2-3 healthy ones.

3. Treat the wound: Apply rooting powder to the cut to encourage root development.

4. Fill the medium: Fill a pot with vermiculite or perlite to ensure the medium is loose and well-aerated.

5. Insert the stem: Place the treated stem into the medium, paying attention to the depth and angle.

6. Water and maintain moisture: Water thoroughly and cover the pot with a clear plastic bag to maintain humidity.

Growth of Rose Cuttings

After a period of care, you will notice the rose cutting gradually developing tender green leaves. Here are a few key points to note during the growth of the cutting:
