How to grow epipremnum aureum in water
As a star contestant among indoor green plants, hydroponic epipremnum aureum is deeply favored for its elegant vines and powerful air purification ability. Compared with traditional soil cultivation, hydroponic epipremnum aureum has advantages such as visible roots and cleaner maintenance, but to ensure the plant grows robustly in water, it is necessary to master five core maintenance points.
Water Quality Management
Scientific Water Change Schedule
It is recommended to use mineral water or tap water that has been left to stand for 24 hours. Change the water every 5-7 days in summer and extend to 10-15 days in winter. When changing the water, keep 1/3 of the original water to avoid sudden environmental changes that cause yellow leaves.
Water Level Control Techniques
Keep 2/3 of the roots immersed in water, leaving space for breathing. Use a transparent container to observe easily, and replenish water when the water level drops by 1/3, avoiding complete drying out.
Light Control
Place the epipremnum aureum 1-2 meters away from the east-facing window sill, receiving 4 hours of scattered light per day. Use a gauze curtain to filter out ultraviolet light during strong sunlight seasons, and supplement with plant growth lights twice a month when there is insufficient light.
Temperature Regulation
Maintain a constant temperature of 18-25°C, keep at least 1.5 meters away from radiators in winter, and avoid direct blowing from air conditioners in summer. Suggest keeping the day-night temperature difference within 5°C, and use a hydroponic恒温 (constant temperature) sleeve pot in extreme temperatures.
Nutrient Supply
Add hydroponic-specific nutrient solution when changing water, diluted at a ratio of 3 drops per 500ml of water. Supplement with humic acid once a month, and using a ceramic stone planting basket can enhance nutrient absorption efficiency.
Root Health Monitoring
Regularly check the roots, immediately cut off the diseased parts if discoloration is found, and soak in a 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for 15 minutes before re-hydroponic. Keep the bottle mouth clean and wipe the inside walls of the container with an alcohol swab every quarter.
