African Aloe is a perennial succulent herb. It grows 2-4 meters tall with an erect stem. The leaves are linear-lanceolate, gray-green, with reddish-brown spines on the edges; the leaves first bend downward and then extend upward. The raceme is conical, branched or unbranched; the tubular flowers are long and curved (up to 55mm), orange-red, later turning yellow. The fruit is a capsule. The flowering period is February to March.
