Leaf cacti, also known as leaf elves, are indoor plants with very high ornamental value. They are deeply loved by flower enthusiasts due to their unique leaves and beautiful shapes. Cutting propagation is one of the important methods of leaf cacti propagation. This article will introduce the cutting method of leaf cacti in detail to help you easily master the propagation techniques and make your plants grow more vigorously.
Choose cutting timeThe cutting time for leaf cacti is generally in spring and autumn, as these two seasons have suitable temperatures that are conducive to cutting survival. High temperatures and humidity in summer can easily lead to cutting failure, while the cold winter is not conducive to plant growth.
Select cutting materials1. Select healthy leaf cacti plants, preferably branches that are vigorous and free from diseases and pests.
2. The length of the cutting material is generally 5-10 centimeters, retaining 2-3 leaves.
Prepare cutting substrate1. The cutting substrate should be loose, breathable, and have good drainage. You can use materials such as perlite, vermiculite, and peat.
2. Disinfect the cutting substrate to prevent the breeding of germs.
Cutting steps1. Cut the bottom of the leaf cacti branch into a slant, about 2-3 centimeters in length.
2. Insert the cut branch into the cutting substrate, with a depth of about 2-3 centimeters.
3. After inserting the branch, gently press the surrounding substrate to ensure that the branch is in close contact with the substrate.
4. Set up a sunshade net to keep the cutting environment ventilated and cool.
Post-cutting management1. Keep the cutting environment moist, spray water 1-2 times a day, but avoid waterlogging.
2. Control the temperature between 20-25 degrees Celsius, which is conducive to root growth of the branches.
3. Observe the growth of the branches, and once roots are found, gradually increase the duration of sunlight to promote branch growth.
Treatment after rooting1. When the branches have rooted, the sunshade net can be gradually removed to increase sunlight exposure.
2. When the branches have grown 3-5 new leaves, they can be transplanted into pots.
Leaf cacti cutting propagation is a simple and feasible method. As long as you master the cutting skills, you can easily propagate more healthy plants. I hope this article can be helpful to you and wish you a joyful experience in growing leaf cacti!
